Blog intro and Romans 6
I’m not sure if pictures are working yet in this blog so for now its just writing. I first started this to practice some coding and I used it once for a homework assignment for my preacher, which i shared with a few people.
I don’t know what direction this blog will take, maybe like a Blurry Creatures Podcast Episode where its a journey you all may take with me. I’ve spent the last several years healing, working on my relationship with the lord. Spiritual Warfare has become a big part of my life since I was baptized. Following the likes of John Ramirez, Marcus Rogers and whom ever the Lord had for me to learn from. With that being said lets catch up to today and get into it.
I’ve sins and issues I still seam to be wrestling with. When we read the bible we must take the word seriously. Revelations 3:16 says, So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. I take this seriously as so should every believer. Revelations is so pertinent to where we are today. I view truth as absolute because it is. Jesus says he is the truth, the way and the life. As he corrects all the churches in Revelations we should take note of the duality of much of gods word and how relevant it is today with the seas of denominations we have.
We overcome sin by walking in the spirit. There is an element of spiritual warfare. Its mental, physical and spiritual. Once we accept Christ as our savior that’s only half the battle. Do we make Jesus are Lord? Do we submit to him? We must overcome the old man (our old nature) and reach the promised land in Christ.
For me its began recently, by focusing on identity. Who does Christ say I am? What is true Christianity and what is Religion? My focus is identity and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, which is something for all believers. Its not about rules and laws, its relationship.
My identity and relationship to Christ i’m learning as I go. Recently I read. Rebecca Brown M.D. book, He came to set the captives free. Not everyone is called to such a life as Rebecca was but what a wonderful testimony it was. Not only showcasing our real enemies that is described in the book of Ephesians but how Satan manipulates, deceives and accuses people robbing them of their true identity in Christ. Even if you don’t happen to be a believer of Jesus you still have an identity in him.
I took a lot of notes, often writing down other books that authors reference which brought me to this little gem. The Conquest of Canaan by Jessie Penn-Lewis. It is a study on the book of Joshua and the Israelite’s taking of Canaan which was promised to them by God. As a believer this symbolizes our walk in Christ, from death in Christ to Resurrection in Christ. She states “Romans 6 is like the Jordan line of separation between the wilderness and victory”
I came across a real life example of this today. https://youtu.be/b-PcIwrDCC0?feature=shared&t=1033 When Pafu goes into his room he reads Galatians 5:1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. He hope after hearing that Jesus wanted to break his chains. (please watch, its good interview)
Romans 6:14 PT Remember this: sin will not conquer you, for God already has! You are not governed by Law but governed by the reign of the grace of God.
I love this verse and it is a good one to memorize. Lets stand firm and overcome. Lets be victorious. Not in religion but in relationship. Its the Holy Spirit working in our lives that comes to conquer us and that’s the beginning of the relationship but it gets much sweeter.
