Putting your foot down
I was going to write about repentance and pride this week. We live in a fallen world so how do we put our foot down as a Christian. Last week at church Galatians 5 came up. In Galatians we have our checklist. Fruit of the Spirit - Joy, peace, patience, kindness, faith, gentleness and strength. Like wise there is a list of the fruit of the flesh.
This is how we measure ourselves in the Kingdom of God. If our enemies are spiritual and not of the flesh like the book of Ephesians says. Putting your foot down starts with oneself. Galatians 5 is our call and standard.
If all good things come from above. If don’t be weary in good doing for you will reap if you faint not. If seek after his righteousness and all else will follow. Then everything in life is dependent on your relationship with god and conquering the self.
We have a misconception of what love is in today’s world. There is a book called the 4 love languages and many spouses read it. The lords love language is obedience. Obedience past our feelings.
Take for example Cain. God loved him. He said why our you downcast if you do what is right will you not be blessed. Sin crouches at your door you must master it. God is a god of justice and order, but he even loves those he sends to hell. So we must get this misconception that love always feels good. That doing the right thing always feels good. Love is being righteous in gods eyes. Love is being obedient to the truth.
I don’t like my place in life. I’m not too happy but I have not been too obedient and surrendered to the will of god neither. So its time to put my foot down in spite those who mock, whom flex. Whom are speaking trigger words of those influenced by demonic forces.
This is part of the journey of getting out the dessert in which we have started, though a bit of a seque.
Verses for this week.
When your self-life craves the things that offend the Holy Spirit you hinder him from living free within you! And the Holy Spirit’s intense cravings hinder your self-life from dominating you! So then, the two incompatible and conflicting forces within you are your self-life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit. -Galations 5:17 TPT
Let me emphasize this: As you yield to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life. -Galatians 5:16 TPT
For every soldier called to active duty must divorce himself from the distractions of this world so that he may fully satisfy the one who chose him. -2 Timothy 2:4 TPT
For the coming weeks ahead I’ll be reflecting on Galatians 5.
